Funeral Service for Bernice E. German, 77, of Waubay, SD formerly of Sisseton, SD will be held on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. at the Peever Lutheran Church, Peever SD with Rev. Steve Moberg and Rev. Janet Miller officiating. Pallbearers will be Robbie and Jack Cleveland, Chris German, JD, Tim, and Andrew Jorgenson. Honorary Pallbearers will be "all of Bernice's Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.". Interment will be in the Zoar Lutheran Cemetery, Grenville, SD. There will be visitation on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 from 1:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD with a 6:00 PM prayer service. The family will be present from 5 to 7. There will also be visitation one hour prior to services at the church.
Bernice Elnora Kurrasch was born on January 19, 1932 in Peever, SD to Leo and Clara (Tauscher) Kurrasch. She grew up and received her education in the Peever and Aberdeen areas. Bernice was united in marriage to Robert C. German on July 3, 1950 in Webster, SD. Bernice cared for her family and helped her husband on the farm her entire life. She enjoyed gardening, reading, crossword puzzles, collecting angels, and Santa's. She always looked forward to bingo and cards at the Senior Center. Holidays were important to her especially Christmas with family and putting together Easter Baskets for the grandchildren. Bernice passed away on February 21, 2009 at the Bethesda Home in Webster, SD.
Bernice is survived by her husband Robert of Webster, SD, sons, Leo and (Patricia) German of Roslyn, SD, David and (Barbara) German of Brookings, SD, and Gary German of Waubay, SD, daughters, Bonnie Cleveland of Rosholt, SD, Shirley (David) Wyman and Julie (Kevin) Jorgenson of Waubay, SD one sister Alyce Lynch of Aberdeen, SD, eighteen grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren..
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Art, Arnold "Amos", Ferdinand, Harold, Delmar, Edward, LeRoy, and Wallace, Sisters, Esther, Leona "Onie", Della, and Angela.
