Funeral Mass for Barbara Josephine Storley, 96 of Sisseton, SD will be held on Friday, April 27, 2012 at 2:00 PM at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Sisseton, SD with Rev. Fr. Tony Dummer, OMI Celebrant. Organist will be Colette Hull and song leader will be Sherman Hannasch. Pallbearers will be Scott Hansen, Michael Nordquist, Christopher Nordquist, Edward Juran, Dennis Juran and Ronnie Backman. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Lake City, SD. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 26, 2012 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM with family present from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service at the Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD.
Barbara Josephine Juran was born on October 29, 1915 on a farm in Dumarce Township to Ferdinand and Catherine (Patsch) Juran. She attended school in Lake City until 8th grade when she had to stay home to take care of her mother who was battling breast cancer. Over the years she worked at various farm homes, then at Ogren's Café in Lake City, Vickre's Sash Shop in Lake City, was Dean of the Dorm at the Lake City High School. She then went to work at the Green Lantern in Britton, SD. Barb married Myron Hansen on September 26, 1940. They lived the first eight years with Myron's parents on their farm in Lake Township south of Roy Lake. They then bought a farm half mile east of Myron's parents and lived there till Myron's death on July 24, 1976. They had four children, Robert, Felicia, Patricia and Brenda. Following Myron's death Barb went to work at Dakotah Inc. in Eden. She moved from the family farm to Eden in October of 1977 and continued to work for Dakotah Inc. until she retired at age 72.
In 1992 Barb married Ingvald Storley. They lived on a farm south of Eden until he passed away in 1998. At which time Barb moved to Sisseton, SD. In 2008 she entered Greenleaf Living Center in Sisseton and in September 2011 Barb entered the Tekawitha Nursing Center in Sisseton. Barb was involved with the Lions Club in Eden, Right to Life, the Altar Society and volunteered at the local Chamber of Commerce. Barb enjoyed sewing and was a good cook, lunch was always on at her place. She was very interested in her grandchildren's activities. Barb passed away on April 23, 2012 at Tekakwitha Nursing Center, Sisseton, SD.
Barb is survived by daughters, Felicia (Gary) Gardner of Watertown, SD, Patti (Jim) Nordquist of Starbuck, MN, Brenda (Mike) Jones of Fargo, ND. One son, Robert (Carol) Hansen of Brooklyn Center, MN, five Step-daughters, June (Don) Backman, Wilmot, SD, Mary Ellen Lehr of Mina Lake, SD, Connie (Dale) Parish of Ramsey, MN, Irene (Ray) Oland of Veblen, SD, Glenda (Jerry) Yngsdal of Webster, SD, one Step-son, Jerry Storley of Roslyn, SD, seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, eleven step grandchildren, twenty two step great grandchildren, and two step great-great grandchildren, five nieces and nephews.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, Myron Hansen and Ingvald Storley, two brothers Joe and Robert and one sister Johanna and one grandson Kevin Gardner.
