Avery Lynn Bernard (Wicaḣpi Hiyaye Win) was born on April Fools Day, 04/01/2008, in Waterloo, Iowa to Leslie Hansen and Brenden Bernard. She attended school at Enemy Swim Day School, Morris Area School District, Watertown and finished her high school education through Penn Foster, where she found her love of the medical field. Avery was never too big for cuddles with her momma. Ever since she was born, she was Aves Babes to her momma and she was an amazing big sister and winona. Always protective and nurturing to her younger brothers. She loved teaching and helping Thomas (Jun) but also loved wrestling and play-fighting with him. Avery loved animals and had numerous puppies that followed and protected her while growing up and going for popsicle runs to Kunsi Edwina's. She lived in Sisseton, SD and worked at Edgewood Assisted Living where she was loved by each of the residents. Her passion was working with the elderly and it showed in each of the relationships she maintained with her residents. Avery loved to do makeup, draw and paint, make TikTok's, color, and hang out with her friends and family. She especially loved her new baby cousin, Waniyetu, and would go to grandmas to hang out with her and eat grandma's cooking. Avery enjoyed spending time with all of her cousins. She had an adventurous spirit. Her teasing and laughter will be missed most. Avery passed away on November 22, 2025, at Sanford Hospital, Sioux Falls, SD.
