Memorial Service for Arden Levern Simonson, 89, of Sisseton, SD will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at the Grace Lutheran Church, Sisseton, SD with the Rev. Joshua Knudsen officiating. Organist will be Estelle Pearson. Urn Bearer will be James Simonson. Honorary Urn Bearers will be all of Arden's Family and Friends. Inurnment will be in the One Road Bethel Cemetery, Sisseton, SD with Military Rites by Otto-Quande-Renville American Legion Post #50 and Ft. Sisseton VFW Post # 3342. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.

Arden Levern Simonson was born on a farm in rural Sisseton, SD two miles west of Clark's corner on June 27, 1932. He lived with his parents, Ole and Beatrice (Benson) Simonson, and his five siblings. Arden started out with a modest life, growing up on a farm, and participated in the "One Road Township School" and graduated from Sisseton High School in 1949. During his young years he built a car, built a motorcycle, and even rewired the electricity at his family home, all before graduating high school. Arden joined the Air Force in 1951. He stayed active for ten ½ years, working as a radar technician. He managed to become a four stripe Staff Sergeant. He visited England, Germany, Japan, and Africa while in the service. Out of those, he loved England the most. Near the end of his years in the Air Force, he met Lorie Lipka. They married and had a son named Charles, born in 1961. In 1969, Arden met Sheryl Wolhaupter through a friend in his neighborhood in St. Paul, MN. They dated a year and in January 1970 they were married. In 1971 their daughter, Deb was born. In 1974 he moved his family to New Haven, MI. He continued working as radar technician at Selfridge Air National Guard in New Baltimore MI. He retired from the Air Force as a Civilian in 1989. In 2002 Arden and his wife, Sheryl adopted their grandson, James because of financial difficulties his mother was having. In 2006 they moved to Sisseton, SD to be with family. He was a child of God and kept his love for Jesus at the forefront of his life. He was an active member of the Grace Lutheran Church and sang bass in the choir. He also taught Sunday school for 9 years. Throughout his life, Arden had an interest in flying radio-controlled model airplanes. He was a member of the Flying Wolverines R C Club in Michigan for many years. Arden moved into the Tekakwitha Living Center in the spring of 2022, where he passed away on May 10, 2022.

Arden is survived by his siblings, Luella George, Kervin Simonson and Rodney Simonson and his children Edward (Deb) Simonson and Charles Simonson; and his grandson, James Simonson.

Arden was preceded in death by his parents, Ole and Beatrice Simonson; his brothers Orris Simonson and Burdell Simonson; and his wife Sheryl Simonson.
