Ardelle Louise Ives was born on July 30, 1941 to Ray and Ellen (Hilleson) Ives on a farm in Marshall County near Hillhead, SD. She attended rural school and graduated from Veblen High School. After her education she was married to Leo Spindler on June 15, 1960 in Sisseton, SD. The couple farmed and raised their family. They returned to Veblen and Ardelle took care of neighborhood children for over 30 years. She was instrumental in the lives of all the children she cared for and she said that she felt blest for the way they also enriched her life. She was very involved with her church, St. John's Catholic Church. Ardelle loved her grand-children and great-grandchildren and was very interested and involved in their lives. Her love for her family was unconditional and consistent. The Lord took Ardelle to be with him on September 29, 2011 in Milbank, SD with her family at her side after a courageous battle with cancer.
