April Dawn Owen, "Anpao Win" (Early Morning Woman), was born on April 23, 1980, and passed peacefully on October 24, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

An All-night Wake Service will be held at the SWO Community Center on Sunday October 27, 2024, at 7:00 P.M. with the Funeral Service on Monday October 28, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. April's wishes were to be cremated. Milton Owen and John Cloud III will be officiating for the services. The pianist will be Billy Kohl. Drum Group will be Old Agency Singers. Active Pallbearers include her sons and nephews: Nyton Owen, Tyler Thompson, Russell Thompson Jr., Glenn Fineday III, Duane Fineday Jr., Tyrone Bearhead, Samuel Fineday, and Courage Brown. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jessica Squirrel Coat, Jermaine Eastman, Johnna Cloud, Angie TwoStars, Vanessa Wanna, Elsie Williams, Ramona Owen, Fern Keeble, Thea Bobtail, Mason Bissonette, Jodean Wanna, Mandi Fischer, Dera Iyotte, Miranda Rodlund,  Bosko Janic and many other friends and co-workers. The Cahill Funeral Chapel is in charge of Funeral arrangements.

April was born on April 23, 1980, in Sisseton, SD. She graduated from Tiospa Zina Tribal School in May of 1999 and continued her education at Sisseton Wahpeton College, graduating in May of 2004 with Associate of Applied Science Degrees: Accounting Technician and Business Specialist. April loved working with numbers she worked in the Accounting Department at Dakota Magic Casino, as Business Manager/Interim Chief Executive Officer for Dakota Nation Industries, as Manager of the SWO Credit Union, and as Office Manager for the SWO Planning Department. She was currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in accounting in Watertown, SD.

April's first son, Nyton Ian (Father Victor Kampeska) was born in October17, 2000 and Tyler Cyrus Enoch (Father Russell Thompson Sr.) in November 13, 2003, and Russell Jr. born on April 23rd in 2007 shared the same birthday with his mother. She made birthdays, holidays, and special occasions very special for her children and everyone in her family, everyone loved her dish specialties. She loved her family and friends dearly and shared many beautiful memories with everyone in her life; as she left a lasting imprint in the hearts of those who knew her well, she will be forever loved and dearly missed.

April is survived by her children: Nyton Owen, Tyler Thompson, Russell Thompson Jr.; One Granddaughter: Kailoni Konji; Sisters: Janet (Jeremy) Brown, Christine Fineday, Tara (Waylon) Brown, Michael (Steve) Farmer, Marjory (Eddie) Bissonette, and Jennifer Owen; Brothers: Leslie Campbell Jr., William (Jacqueline) Owen, Dennis (Candida) Owen Jr.; many uncles, aunts, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her Mother Patricia Bernard, Father Dennis Owen Sr.; Grandparents: Estelline and John TwoStars Sr., Pierce, and Laura Owen; and many uncles, aunts, and cousins.
