April was born on May 7th, 1991, in Sisseton, SD, to Rochelle Amos and Trevor Pratt. After the passing of their mother at a young age, April and Alicia were raised by their grandmother Clara Small and Uncle Gerald Amos. April attended elementary school in Wilmot, SD and graduated from Tiospa Zina Tribal School in 2009. April was employed at the Sisseton Wahpeton College at the time of her death. April had a huge love for all animals. She had numerous books about dogs and became very knowledgeable, eventually leading to her raising and breeding Siberian Huskies when she was just a teenager. Her dream was to become a Zoologist so that she could work in any setting where she would be surrounded by animals. April presently had one fancy Betta fish, Tiger barb fish, and one cat, Anya, whom she rescued while fishing at her favorite spot in Enemy Swim. Anya brought April so much joy and comfort during a very difficult time. Anya birthed 3 kittens the day before April's passing, another moment that brought April incredible joy. One of April's favorite hobbies was watching her favorite NBA player, Luka Doncic. She was an avid Dallas Mavericks fan, which later changed to the Los Angeles Lakers, as Luka was traded. She then called him "Laker Luka." She did not miss a game, even sick in her hospital bed, she made time to watch as her days neared the end. April deeply loved her niece and nephews. It was important to her that they were good humans. She took her role as an aunt very seriously and made sure to teach them any chance she could. She was just as much fun as she was serious. April loved to play, watch movies, cook, and make crafts with them. Bringing them joy was happiness for her. Another favorite pastime of April's was to go fishing, often with her aunts and uncles, who enjoyed it just as much. April was tough, fearless, and purely honest. A beautiful soul inside and out. Her unique humor and wit drew others to her, having countless good friends throughout her short life. April Brooke Amos, age 33, passed away on April 13, 2025, at the University of Minnesota Fairview Hospital, Minneapolis, MN with her sister Alicia, by her side.
