Obituary

Funeral Mass for Ann Hannasch, 100 of Sisseton, SD will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Fr. Jerry Ranek celebrant. Organist will be Colette Hull and song leader will be Cindy Marohl. Pallbearers will be Steven Hannasch, Aaron Hannasch, Clinton Hannasch, Chris Arbach, Cody Schoening and Adam Schroeder. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Ann's Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Great-Great Grandchildren, Family and Friends. Interment will be in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 17, 2017 at the Cahill Funeral Chapel from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. followed by visitation at St. Peter's Catholic Church from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Ann Sherman was born in Bowdle, SD to Vincent and Barbara (Warner) Sherman on July 15, 1917. They later moved to Sisseton in 1935 and she attended Sisseton School and graduated from Sisseton High School in 1936. She played basketball and enjoyed participating in school plays. She worked for Fr. Pohlen at the Tekakwitha Orphanage as a secretary for four years. She was united in marriage to William Hannasch on May 30, 1939 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Sisseton, SD. They made their home in Grant Township where Ann lived for seventy five years until the time of her passing. To this union eleven children were born. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church for eighty two years, St. Ann's Circle, and was a Lady Forester. She worked at Mobil Café, 1081 Supper Club and Sisseton School lunch room. She enjoyed playing cards and hosting card parties, and even blizzards never stopped them from playing cards. Bill and Ann loved to dance. She raised cucumbers for Gedney's.   Ann passed away on November 13, 2017 at the Wilmot Care Center, Wilmot, SD.

Ann is survived by ten children, Sherman Hannasch of Sisseton, SD, Robert Hannasch of Spring, TX, Judy (Daryl) Buckhouse of Breckenridge, MN, Janet (Robert) Kocourek of Omaha, NE, Charles (Roxanne) Hannasch of Marshfield, WI, Kenneth (Millicent) Hannasch of Sisseton, SD, Joella (David) Schroeder of Topeka, KS, Joyce (Roger) Arbach of Sisseton, SD, Jerrilyn (Craig) Schoening, of Glenwood, IA, Jennifer (David) Windsor of Spring, TX; son-in-law David Haskamp of Warren, WI; twenty five grandchildren; forty three great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents Vincent and Barbara Sherman, her husband William Hannasch, one daughter Jane Haskamp, one grandson John Hannasch, two infant great-grandchildren, three brothers, John, James and Joel Sherman, and one sister Agnes Bennett.
