Funeral service for Anita Elaine Olson, age 66, will be held on Wednesday November 7, 2018 at 1:00PM at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Veblen, South Dakota. Officiating will be Rev. Cheryl Rondeau-Bassett. Organist is Karen Hornseth. Pallbearers are Dan McCaig, Keith Keating, Jason Levan, David Vig, John McCaig, Mauricio Barron, Lonnie Furman, and Ross Vig. Visitation will be held Tuesday November 6, 2018 from 5:00PM-7:00PM at The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, South Dakota and one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Interment will be in the Veblen Cemetery, Veblen, South Dakota. The Cahill Funeral Chapel of Sisseton, South Dakota is in charge of arrangements.
Anita was born on April 1, 1952 in Britton, SD to Selmer "Sam" and Maxine (Knutson) Olson. Anita grew up and attended school in Veblen, SD and graduated high school in 1970. She then started working at the Marshall County Hospital in Britton, SD as a CNA for several years. She also worked at Dakota Inc. in Veblen for a couple of years and then worked at Tekakwitha Living Center in Sisseton, SD. She was a very caring person and worked as a caregiver for many years. During her time at Tekakwitha Living Center, she attended Sisseton Wahpeton Community College.
Anita enjoyed bible studies at the High Rise Apartments and attending special entertainment that came to the area. She also enjoyed being on a bowling team, and traveling to the Black Hills and Seattle, WA. Anita also took many trips to Iowa and Nebraska to visit family and attend special occasions.
Very special people in Anita's life were her close friend and care giver Paul Stapleton as well as her nieces and their families. Anita passed away peacefully on November 2, 2018 at the Tekawaitha Living Center, Sisseton, SD.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sister, Jeanne Kuhlmann of Charter Oak, IA; five nieces, Rhonda and Dan McCaig of Blair, NE, Sherri and Keith Keating of Arlington, TX, Denise and Jason Levan of Perry, IA, Stephanie Klimiades and Meranda and Mauricio Barron of Bellevue, NE, and close friend and care giver Paul Stapleton; and eleven great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; Brother Steven Olson; brother-in-law Ronald Kuhlmann.
