A Funeral Service for Anita C. Hart-Wanna will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Tribal Community Center, Agency Village, SD with the Rev. Clifford Chanku, Rev. Enright Bighorn, and Rev. Vern Donnell, Rev. Floyd Hart Sr., Philmore Simon CLP, officiating. Pianist will be Kay Bursheim and Billy Kohl. Pallbearers will be Kenyon Budack Jr., John Paul Budack, Chance Peltier, Joe Mandan, David Williams, Kory Budack, Alex Wanna and Jared Long. Honorary Pallbearers will be Izola Simon, Gretta Simon, Crystal Renville, Goldie FlyingHawk, Theresa Thompson, Mary Trottier, Teresa Bowmen, Jackie Grant, Gina Morgan, Debra Peterson, Anita Wanna, ZaZa Ziemba, Debbie Hart, and all the members of Mayasan Women's Fastpitch Softball Team. Wake Services will be held at the Tribal Community Center, Agency Village on Tuesday, and Wednesday at 7:00 P.M.
Anita Charlene Hart-Wanna was born on November 16, 1955 to Kenneth and Theresa (Max) Hart at home in Sisseton SD. She Graduated From Sisseton High School in May of 1974. She went on to further her education at Cook Christian Training School in Tempe Arizona in 1975. She moved back to South Dakota and attended Huron College from 1977-1978. In 1985 She Received her Bachelor of Science in Social Work from the University of Dubuque Iowa. Anita was united in marriage to Duane Wanna on March 24, 1987 in Sisseton South Dakota. She then returned to the Sisseton Area where she worked for Various Tribal Positions. She loved working at the Sisseton Wahpeton Child Protection Program. After her numerous years with CPP she worked with the SWO Child Support Enforcement Office. In November 2001 Anita began working for the Bureau of Indian Affairs- Social Services where she worked until she was diagnosed with Cancer. Anita loved to spend time with her family especially her grandchildren. She loved to bake, sing from her Dakota Odowan, and taking care of her entire family. She enjoyed relaxing and playing Bingo.
Anita is survived by her husband, Duane Wanna of Sisseton, SD; four children, Rahima Hart, Kelsey Wanna, Frances Wanna and Fiona White Eagle all of Sisseton, SD; seven grandchildren; one brother, Floyd Hart Sr. of Phoenix, AZ; five sisters, Lotica Barker of Sisseton, SD, Bonita Hart of Sisseton, SD, Jewelle Hart of Sisseton, SD, Sarina Budack of Sisseton, SD; and Cindy Greeley of Aberdeen, SD.
Anita was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Anthony; five sisters, Eleanor Badheartbull, Alfreda, Etta, Amais Hart, and Zeda Seaboy.
