Obituary

Funeral Service for Anetta B. Setnes, 95 of Sisseton, SD will be held on Monday, December 5, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. at the Grace Lutheran Church, Sisseton, SD with the Rev. Leroy Boender officiating. Organist will be Estelle Pearson and soloist will be Jenny Nelson. Pallbearers will be Michael Walz, Aaron Walz, Kristopher Setnes, Stephanie Setnes, Sarah Setnes-Dale, Janee Strunk, Reid Nelson, and Kayla Todd. Honorary Pallbearers will be The Grace Lutheran Quilter Ladies, and the Friends and Family from Edgewood Vista. Interment will be in the Sisseton Cemetery, Sisseton, SD. There will be visitation at the Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD on Sunday, December 4, 2016 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of arrangements.
Anetta Hillestad was born to Hans and Lillian (Brendel) Hillestad on October 13, 1921. She attended school in Minnesota Township grades one through eight. She attended Claire City High School her freshmen and sophomore years and graduated from Sisseton High School May 1939. That summer she did housework for the Adolph Krauses and Peter Petersons when their last children were born. In the fall of 1939, she started work for Sandsmark General Store in Claire City where she worked until the fall of 1942. It was in Claire City that Anetta met Parnell (Pete) Setnes who became Principal at Claire City High School in the fall of 1940. He and Anetta were married December 22, 1942 in the home of her parents by the Rev. J. E. Borgen. Anetta was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Altar Guild, Ladies Aid, Choir and the Quilters. She was a member of the Gray Ladies for many years, and was active in RSVP. She loved crossword, and jigsaw puzzles, liked to travel, taking several bus tours and she liked to read. She crocheted many prayer shawls for Grace Lutheran Church, and also made afghans for her grandchildren. Anetta passed away on December 1, 2016 at the Tekakwitha Living Center.
Anetta is survived by four children, Paul (Cynthia) Setnes of Estelline, SD, Renee (Jerry) Walz of Bismarck, ND, Jeanne Setnes of Brooklyn Park, MN, and Julie (Mike) Nelson of Elbow Lake, MN; one brother Hardy Hillestad of Sisseton, SD; one sister-in-law Margaret Hillestad of Shakopee, MN; ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Anetta was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother Ray, and one sister-in-law Ileane Hillestad
