A Celebration of Life Service was held on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at Goodwill Presbyterian Church, Agency Village, SD.

Alton D. Flute was born February 1, 1939 in Sisseton, SD to William Flute and Linda Hill-Flute. Alton is from the Tiospa of his father, William Flute, WWII Veteran, Interred at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN. and his siblings Sam Flute, Fanny Flute, Rebecca Flute, Lucinda Flute. His mother Linda Hill and her siblings Blanche King, Alvina Redwing and Sam Hill.

Throughout Alton's life he worked various jobs and became a Chef after completing schooling in San Francisco, CA. But his main passion was truck driving for Midnight Trucking in Fargo, ND from where he retired in 2017.

Alton passed away on June 18, 2021 in Machesney Park, IL in the comfort of his home.

Alton is survived by his son Elton D. Flute (Doug) of Ipswich, SD; daughters Vonnie L. Flute (Sissy) of Fargo, ND; Alexis A. Flute of Fargo, ND; Star M. Alexander of Warwick, RI; and son Mike Flute of Loves Park, IL. Nieces - Sharon Flute-Blackcoon Family and Phedora Wilson Family. Cousins - Mavis Hill Family, Christine Hill Family, Carol Iron Moccason Family and Barbara King Family. Sister-in-law- Zelma Flute. Grandchildren-Michael Flute, Matthew Flute, Gregory Flute, Candida Flute (Elton); Alise Jackson, Sharon Abeita, Jessi-Ann Flute (Alexis); Wenona Alexander and Maximus Alexander (Star). Great Grandchildren- Miah Deegan, Chloe Deegan, Gracie Jackson (Alise); Dominic Abeita-Barse and Athena Abeits-Barse (Sharon).

Alton is preceded in death by his father William Flute; mother Linda Hill-Flute; sisters Pheobe Heminger-Wilson and Regina Flute-LaFromboise; brother Sylvanus Flute; infant granddaughter JessiAnn Flute; infant son Desmond Wade Flute.
