Funeral Service for Alfreda Rae Spider, 57, of Wilmot, SD will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the Tribal Community Center, Agency Village, with Pastor Milton Owen, CLP Jr. Heminger, and Lay Reader John Cloud III officiating. Pianist will be Kay Bursheim and Betty Spider Neiland. Drum group will be Ridge Runners Drum Group. Pallbearers will be Wesley Spider, Terry Spider, Mike Groves, Travis Groves, Alex Groves, Harley Spider, Dusty Spider, Bruce DeMarrias, Trevor Spider, Les Marks, and Steve Marks. Honorary Pallbearers will be Lois Owen, Nippy and Bobbi Owen, Marsha, Marie Renville, Lori Neiland, Melanie Sinclair, Loretta Wanna, Ron and Tammy Dumarce, Sophrona Crawford, Della Shepard, Charlene and Jacki Wanna, Lydia Marks, Mary Jones, Dorothy Farmer, Amos Spider, Clark and Pauline Zephier, Harold and Geraldine Condon, Shannon LaBatte, Lydia (Joan) Spider, and Ilene (Wilson) Langdeaux, Andrew and Faye Lufkins, Hilde Rodlund, Paulette Cloud, Keely DuMurace, Jake Blacksmith, Glen and Bonita Wilson, Eunice Renville, Sandy Geshek, Mike, Leah and Chris Greeley, Arlene Spider , Danny & Delveen Seaboy, Special niece, Kelli Spider and special grandson Trevor Spider, and Sisseton Wahpeton Head Start Staff. Interment will be in the Ascension Presbyterian Cemetery, Big Coulee, SD. There will be Wake Services at the Tribal Community Center, Agency Village, at 7:00 PM on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday will be all-night wakes starting at 7:00 P.M. Alfreda Rae Spider was born December 22, 1955 to Geraldine Williams and Alfred Spider. She attended Wilmot till graduation in 1974. She attended Northern State College in Aberdeen, South Dakota and received an AA in early childhood development. She worked at Dakota Pride, Wahpeton Indian School, and Tekakwitha Adolescent Center as a counselor and was a home resident, Sisseton Wahpeton Head Start for fourteen years, Dakota Magic as Assistant Cook, Dakota Sioux as the Assistant Cook in the deli. Mom liked to play bingo and she was always beading, reading, or working on Sudoku puzzles. She also arts & crafts, Pow Wows, gardening and enjoyed going to the casino. Alfreda enjoyed children and was always active.
Alfreda is survived by her son Craig Spider of Wilmot, SD; two sisters LaVonne Spider and Lola Spider of Sisseton, SD; brothers Myron William of Sisseton, SD; Gaylord Williams of Sisseton, SD; Earlen Spider of Sisseton, SD; Maurice Spider of Sisseton, SD; Daniel Spider of Fargo, ND; and Rodney Spider of Lincoln, NE; one granddaughter Kahlily Spider
Alfreda is preceded in death by her parents; a niece Melissa Spider and one nephew Scott Groves Spider; two sisters, Bonita and Lola Spider.
