Funeral Service for Alan L. Johnson "Mahpiya Boya Mani", 58 of Sisseton, SD will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Dakota Magic Convention Center, Hankinson, ND. The Rev. Enright bighorn, Senior Catechist John Cloud III, and Gerald Heminger Jr. officiating. Pianist will be Billy Kohl, with special music by Butch Felix and Elena Wilson. The drum group will be Buffalo Lake Singers.

Interment will be in the Buffalo Lake Presbyterian Cemetery, Eden, SD. The Wake Services will be held on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, at the Buffalo Lake District Center at 7:00 PM. Alan Lee Johnson was born in Sisseton, SD on July 6, 1952 at the I.H.S. Hospital to Christopher and Shirley (Redwing) Johnson Jr.. Alan attended the Fargo Elementary, Peever and Sisseton Schools. He graduated from Sisseton High School in May 1970. On May 10, 1975 he was united in marriage to Bonnie "Bon Bon" Weidenbach. Alan was a police officer for the city of Sisseton, Net Lake, MN Police Department and the SWO Tribal Police. He also worked on construction, bus driver for the Tiospa Zina Tribal School, Dakota Magic Surveillance Manger, and served as a Commissioner for the DNGC. Alan graduated from the SWC in 2006 with an AA degree in Casino Management and Hospitality. Alan served as the Buffalo Lake District Chairman, and was presently the Buffalo Lake District Vice Chairman. He also was on the Tiospa Zina Tribal School Board, SWO Police Commission, and the SWO Fish and Wildlife, and the District Chairman's Assn. Alan loved to hunt, fish, and thought the world of his grandchildren. Alan Lee Johnson "Mahpiya Boya Mani" has gone fishing in Heaven on April 16, 2011 at the Coteau Des Prairies Hospital, Sisseton, SD.
Alan is survived by his wife, Bonnie of Sisseton, SD; his four sons, Jeremiah (Marie) Johnson of New Effington, SD, Maurice (Ember) Johnson, William (Andrea) Johnson and Christian (Amanda) Johnson all of Sisseton, SD; Takojas, Taylor, MaLeah, Jeremiah Jr., Ruger, Angelia, Jaxtin, and Brett; sisters, Annie ( Butch) Felix, Pamela "Cookie" Johnson, Angela "Angi" Johnson, Debbie (Gene) Heminger, Linda (Gary) Kriz, and Elena Wilson all of Sisseton, SD and Lahoma King of Browns Valley, MN; brothers, Felix Johnson Sr.. Louis (Sherry) Johnson, Norman Johnson Sr., Kenneth (Heidi) Johnson, Jeff Block all of Sisseton, SD and Troy Goodsell of Grand Prairie, TX, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Chris & Shirley Johnson Jr.; his maternal grandparents, Ted and Alvina Redwing; his paternal grandparents, Chris Johnson Sr., Norman and Rena DeCoteau; his brother, Maurice "John" Johnson; Uncles, Joe Bush DeCoteau, Dennis DeCoteau, Clyde Johnson, Norman Redwing Sr., and Donald "Crow" Culbertson.
