Obituary

Alan Eugene Hrncir, age 64, passed away on October 1, 2018 in Sisseton, South Dakota. Memorial Graveside Service with Military Rites will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2018, at 2PM at the Sisseton Cemetery in Sisseton, South Dakota. A Memorial Service will be held in Centralia at a later date. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, SD is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Alan was born on July 3, 1954, to Eugene and Joy (Erickson) Hrncir in Sisseton, SD. He graduated from Sisseton High School in 1972. He graduated from SDSU in Brookings, South Dakota in 1978 with a BS Degree in Arts and Science. His major was Health, Physical Education and Recreation. He participated in the ROTC Program and was a member of the Wrestling Team. He entered the Army immediately after graduation. Alan served from 1979-1988. He was awarded the Army Service Ribbon, The Army of Occupation Medal, a Parachute Badge, a Ranger Tab, and the Army Commendation Medal. He also participated on the Army Wresting Team.

Alan married Ada Brewer on August 1, 1985. They made their home in Centralia, Washington, where they raised their children. Alan worked for the State of Washington as a Community Corrections Officer for many years. He recently retired. Alan was a kind and generous individual and very dedicated to his church, where he had served as Head Deacon. He loved his family and always did his best to help anyone in need. His hobbies included playing in fantasy football leagues, enjoying the outdoors and keeping up on his love for wrestling. Alan had a great sense of humor and an amazing laugh.

Grateful for having shared his life are his children, daughter Sara Hrncir, and son Eric Hrncir of Centralia, Washington, sons, Patrick (Kym) Alexander of Huntsville, Arkansas, Jonathan (Dawn) Alexander of Brooklyn, New York; fiancé Grace Omburo of Centralia, Washington; parents; sisters Linda (David) Medenwald of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Lora (Greg) Fargen of Brookings, South Dakota; brothers Dale Hrncir of Grand Forks, North Dakota, Kevin (Dawn) Hrncir of Sisseton, South Dakota, Bryan (Naomi) Hrncir of Farmington, Minnesota; grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, and grandparents Luke and Marie Erickson and Norman Hollen, Joseph and Matilda Hrncir.
