Funeral Service for Agnes Marie Finnesand, 91, of Sisseton, South Dakota will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at 1:00 P.M. at Grace Lutheran Church, Sisseton, South Dakota with Pastor Josh Knudsen officiating. Organist will be Ollie Yost and Special Music will be provided by Pastor Karie Geyer and Pastor Pat Schubert. Pall Bearers will be Calvin Finnesand, Steve Finnesand, Jason Medhaug, Doug Medhaug, Mark Tasa, and Jay Tasa. Honorary Pall Bearers will be Agnes’ Grandchildren: Amber, Amanda, Justin, Jordan, Travis, and Tyler. Interment will be at the Sisseton Cemetery, Sisseton, South Dakota. There will be visitation on Thursday, October 1, 2026 from 11:30 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. before the service at Grace Lutheran Church. The Cahill Funeral Chapel, Sisseton, South Dakota is in charge of arrangements.

     Agnes Marie (Medhaug) Finnesand was born October 30, 1934 on a farm in Veblen Township of Marshall County, SD to Elias and Josephine (Nelson) Medhaug. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith at Palestine Lutheran Church. She grew up there and attended rural schools and graduated from Veblen High School. Agnes was united in marriage to Alvin Finnesand on June 7, 1954. They lived in Sisseton where Alvin worked for the State Highway Department and the Furhouse. Alvin passed away on February 3, 1976. Agnes continued to live in Sisseton.

     She was active in her community and was part of the women’s quilting and women’s circle at Grace Lutheran Church in Sisseton. She worked at the A & W restaurant, Senior Nutrition, and sold Avon throughout the years. She loved to visit and have coffee with friends and family. You could find her and Arlet Schaunaman having their coffee together often. In 2017 Agnes moved into Edgewood Assisted Living. She loved her family, friends, and the Lord with all her heart. She was loved by many with her welcoming smile and great laugh! Agnes passed away on September 26, 2026 at the age of 91 surrounded by family.

     She is survived by her two daughters: Sherry (Robert) Ermish of Rapid City, SD and Sharon (Brad) Eggers of New Effington, SD; 6 grandchildren: Tyler (Bree) Ermish, Travis Ermish, Amber Rolstad, Amanda Rolstad, Justin (Krystal) Rolstad, and Jordan (Megan) Rolstad-Eggers; 10 Great Grandchildren: Janeyah Rolstad, Zayden Lee, Jayden Lee, Kylah Norman, Keira Norman, Alannah Key, Dominick Evans, Haisley Rolstad-Eggers, Reagan Rolstad, and Rhett Ermish; Brother in law Iver(Darlene) Finnesand and sister-in-law Thelma (Sherman) Pickthorn and many nieces and nephews.

     Agnes was preceded in death by her parents Elias & Josephine Medhaug; husband Alvin Finnesand; son, Lars; brothers Marvin (Borghild) Medhaug, Gehard (Dora) Medhaug, Sander (Evelyn) Medhaug, Earl ( Gloria) Medhaug, and Obert (Maxine) Medhaug; Sisters Jeanette (Oscar) Haaland, Orpha (John) Stenson, Ruth(Wendell) Westfield, and Delores(Don) Blair; brothers in laws Kenneth Finnesand, Marvin Finnesand, Leo Finnesand, Howard (Elsie) Finnesand, Irvin (Evelyn) Finnesand, and Harvey ( Bethel) Finnesand; Sister in laws Bernice (Bud) Fenske, Ruth (Warren) Mogensen and Arlet (Bud)Schaunaman.
