Funeral Service for Edwin Bernell Robertson Sr., Oyate yamni “Three nations”, 91 of Sisseton, SD will be held on Monday, October 22, 2012 at 10:30 AM at the Tribal Community Center, Agency village, SD with John Cloud III, Michael Lafontaine, Darren Redday and Morgan Redday officiating. Pianist will be Kay Bursheim. Drum Group will be Buffalo Lake Traditional. Pallbearers will be David Bird, Michael Conner Robertson, Ronald Redday, Christian Robertson, Derrick Redday, Kip Renville, Brian Robertson, and Richard Robertson. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Edwin’s Family & Friends. Interment will be in the Sisseton Cemetery, Sisseton, SD with Military Rites by the Sisseton Wahpeton America Legion Post #314 and Eddie Robertson American Legion Post #76. Wake Services will be held on Saturday and Sunday (All-night) at the Tribal Community Center at 7:00 P.M. Edwin was born on October 9, 1921 in Aberdeen, SD to Lillian F. Robertson. He grew up and attended grade school in Veblen, SD and high school in Sisseton, SD. Following his education he farmed with his father. Edwin entered the U.S. Army and served from August 1946 to July 1947 as a PVT and received the World War II Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal-Japan. After his discharge Edwin worked on the farm and for the Hagen Bros, and also worked at Cenex in Sisseton, SD. Edwin started working at Indian Health Service as a custodian and also worked as an ambulance driver. Edwin was married in 1968 to Phyllis Redday at the Gethsemane Episcopal Church in Sisseton, SD. Edwin retired in 1986. He liked bowling, watching baseball, coaching softball, and enjoyed all High School Sports. He was a Green Bay Packer Fan. Edwin was a life member of the Fort Sisseton VFW Post #3342. Edwin passed away on October 18, 2012 at Coteau Des Prairies Hospital, Sisseton, SD. Edwin is survived by seven children, Robert and David Bird of Sisseton, SD, Edwin S. Robertson Jr. and Robin Robertson of Sisseton, SD, Susan Robertson of Huron, SD, Phyllis H. Roberts of Grand Forks, ND and Madrid Roberts Jr. of Sisseton, SD; one cousin, Basil and wife, Phyllis Robertson of Pickstown, SD; seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Edwin was preceded in death by his mother, step father, one great grandchild, one Aunt Eunice Morrison and a niece, Michelle Robertson.
